About Mohs Surgery

What to Expect at Your Mohs Surgery Appointment

Mohs surgery (technically known as Mohs Micrographic Surgery) is the most successful method ever developed for the treatment of skin cancer. Mohs surgery has the highest cure rates of any form of skin cancer treatment. Cure rates exceed 99% for many cancers. The risk that a cancer will grow back following Mohs surgery is ten to forty times less than the risk after other types of treatment.

Surprisingly, Mohs surgery can achieve these higher cure rates with smaller, less destructive procedures compared with older, less precise methods of treatment. This can mean lower costs. For most people Mohs surgery is very easy to undergo right in the doctor's office using a local anesthetic.

Dr. Mark Jones, Dr. Jared Lund, and Dr. Michael Wentzell form the most experienced team of Mohs surgeons serving the region. They have a combined experience of over 35 years, performing over 25,000 Mohs surgery operations, including many rare and unusual cancers.

Our fellowship-trained physicians meet the standards of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery  (www.mohscollege.org). The Mohs College sets the highest training standards for Mohs surgeons - standards not met by every physician who performs Mohs Surgery.
