Neurosurgery – Job Description
Billings Clinic, a Billings, MT based multi-specialty clinic is seeking a neurosurgeon. Responsibilities include: Performing clinical preoperative evaluation of adult and pediatric patients, aided by results of diagnostic tests to verify necessity of operation, estimate possible risks to patient, and determine the best surgical procedure. Performs surgery and microsurgery techniques on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to remove tumors, relieve chronic pain, and treat wounds, vascular disorders, hydrocephalus, and other chronic diseases unable to be controlled with pharmacologic treatments such as Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy. Additionally performs surgery to correct spinal disorders for spinal cord or nerve root compressions, and perform spinal stabilization with instrumentation when required. In addition to performing procedures, neurosurgeon oversee and coordinate efforts of large teams of surgeons and nurses in the operating room, as well as participate as a team member with other multiple specialties in perioperative and postoperative management and follow-up of patients such as Neurology, Neuroradiology, Critical Care, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery. May participate in clinical and basic research activities following appropriate guidelines and institutional approval.
Minimum requirements - graduate of approved medical school and a 6-year residency in neurosurgery. Board-certified in neurosurgery or eligible for board certification within one year. Licensed in the state of Montana or presently eligible for licensure.
