Billings Clinic is recognized by SightLife™ as outstanding partner helping to provide the gift of sight

Billings, MT—Billings Clinic was awarded the Vision Award from SightLife™ for efforts to restore sight to Montanans. Billings Clinic was also celebrated as the top performing hospital in Montana in 2010, providing more patients an opportunity of cornea donation than any other hospital in Montana. Billings Clinic had 46 cornea tissue donors in 2010 that gave restored sight to 58 individuals.

SightLife eye bank presented Billings Clinic with the VISION AWARD for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2010 on March 9, 2011. The Vision Award recognizes partners that go above and beyond to make the gift of sight a reality.

“Billings Clinic demonstrates how creating an effective cornea donation program can lead to benefits for the community and the world at large to see again,” said Lu Byrd, Chief Nursing Officer at Billings Clinic. “This hospital has embraced the importance of cornea donation and the impact it can have on donor families, recipients and the society.”

SightLife restores sight to more than 20 people each day around the globe through the recovery and placement of eye tissue used in cornea transplants. In 2010, SightLife provided 4,834 corneas for these transplants, more than any other eye bank in the United States. In 2010, over 380 individuals in Montana donated their corneas, providing the gift of sight to over 560 individuals.
