At Billings Clinic Cancer Center, our goal is to provide state-of-the-art cancer care, which includes a quality research program. We provide access to a variety of clinical trials for cancer prevention, treatment, investigational drugs, and symptom management. As medical science continues to make break-through findings, access to clinical trials has become essential to receiving the most up-to-date treatments. At any one time, we participate in 120+ clinical trials that are available for different cancer diagnoses, spanning phases I to III. The Center for Clinical Translational Research works with local community health care facilities, health care professionals and health care agencies throughout the region to coordinate the highest level quality of care possible. This ensures the most current appropriate medical information and resources are available for both the provider and their patients. Billings Clinic established the Center to help promote healthier living and to improve the management of chronic illnesses that affect us as we age. The Research Center was founded in 1988 and opened a new state-of-the art facility on the Billings Clinic campus in 2002. As the largest clinical research center in a 600 mile radius, we have participated in more than 150 clinical trials and have worked with over 4,500 volunteers (patients with a condition or a disease).
The 22,500 square foot center is involved in phase I, II, III, and IV clinical trials. The Center conducts clinical research studies of human disease, nutrition, new drugs, vaccines, biologics (immune system medications), genomics (the study of gene structure), and medical devices. Through research, the Center is helping people stay healthy or optimize the treatment of their medical conditions. Some of the research efforts include clinical studies to research new therapies; a state-of-the-art laboratory and Research Kitchen exploring new research in lipid, nutraceuticals , and other health-related topics; DEXA (bone density) scans. Science Expo - The Research Center also annually conducts a regional Science Expo, to invest in and support youth from 26 counties.
