Cardiovascular Services Appointments via Telemedicine

Billings Clinic Cardiovascular Services offers telemedicine appointments in our region to:

  • Provide access to specialty care within local communities
  • Reduce the time and expense for patients who would otherwise need to travel for an out-of-town medical appointment
  • Enhance the continuity of care between the patient, his or her primary care practitioner, and the specialist when they are all involved in the consultation.

What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is a service that links medical specialists with patients and their health care practitioners in rural communities using two-way interactive video conferencing. Unlike television, no one else can “tune in” to the video consultation. All consultations are strictly confidential. Specialists perform face to face consultations and have the ability to examine, diagnose and plan care for patients.

Telecardiology at Billings Clinic

Telemedicine for cardiology services is referred to at Telecardiology. During a Telecardiology visit, heart and lung sounds are sent over an electronic stethoscope between the patient at the distant site and the cardiologist at Billings Clinic. The patient is accompanied by a trained presenter who assists the doctor with the consultation. Telecardiology appointments are currently available in the following communities: Miles City and Plentywood, Montana.
