These assessments, Fitness, Biomechanical Gait, and Body Composition, are an important part of testing at the Human Performance Lab at Billings Clinic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
Basic Fitness Assessment takes 45 minutes to complete and assesses several areas within fitness: blood pressure, height, weight, hip/waist circumference ratio, body composition, and submaximal cardiovascular. Flexibility and balanced are measured using the Functional Movement Screen.
Body Composition uses the Durnin formula for body fat testing, a four-site skin fold pinch test. With skinfold calipers subcutaneous fat is measured at various sites on the body to determine an individual’s body fat.
Biomechanical Gait Analysis uses Dartfish video analysis software to analyze body positioning during running or walking. The idea is to maximize efficiency by evaluating and adjusting a person’s unique body mechanics, muscle imbalances and asymmetrical movement patterns.
