Billings Clinic to open ExpressCare retail clinics for convenient and affordable primary care

Billings, MT — Billings Clinic will open new retail clinics called ExpressCare. The clinics will offer patients quick access in convenient locations to primary care for minor medical issues provided by Billings Clinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The first site is expected to open in December 2013 and will be located near the pharmacy in the Albertsons store located at 3137 Grand Avenue on the West End. Additional locations are planned to open in Spring and Summer of 2014.

“We know from past experience in other market areas how much our customers appreciate in-store clinics like Billings Clinic’s Express Care sites,” said Chris Cornwall, Divisional Pharmacy Manager for Albertsons. “Grocery store clinics are as close as many health care providers can get to being able to make house calls these days. The clinics can draw patients in who may shy away traditional doctor appointments just as much as they can help busy parents with quick visits for themselves and their kids.”

ExpressCare will take advantage of technology by offering e-Scheduling, mobile application that will allow patients to use their smart phones and tablets to quickly and easily reserve time on the ExpressCare schedule. In addition to e-Scheduling option, appointments will be available for walk-in customers.

The providers at ExpressCare will treat patients seeking services for: allergies, bladder infections, ear infections and ear pain, colds and/or respiratory illness, pink eye or styes, sinus infection and/or sinus pain, sore throat, rashes, cold sores, bug bites, athlete’s foot or ringworm, minor burns, and skin abrasions.

Procedures will include wart removal and ear lavage. Testing will include rapid strep screen, flu screen, urine pregnancy test, urine screen, and TB/Mantoux testing. Vaccinations available will include influenza, tetanus, (TD, TDAP), Hepatitis B, pneumonia, and meningitis.

Services offered at ExpressCare will have a set price ranging from $25 - $70. ExpressCare locations will accept most major insurance. Customers will be required to pay their co-pay at the time of service. Customers without insurance or customers with insurance that is not accepted at ExpressCare will be required to pay at the time of service. ExpressCare locations will accept payment by check or credit card.

“Billings Clinic is committed to establishing entry points to care that are easily accessible, conveniently located and streamlined to deliver quality care efficiently,” said Deborah Agnew, MD, pediatrician and Chief of Primary Care at Billings Clinic. “Billings Clinic is committed to exploring and implementing new models for the delivery of care that will increase access to primary care services.”

Billings Clinic looked to this new business opportunity to make it easier and more convenient for patients to access quality care. Benefits of ExpressCare include:
