Billings, MT – The Montana Women’s Run is excited to announce that Tanya Goben Allestad will be the guest speaker at the Montana Women’s Run Kick-Off Dinner held on Friday, May 6, sponsored by The Olive Garden.   The Kick-Off Dinner and the Women’s Health Expo will be held at the Billings Food Bank, located at 2112 4th Avenue North.  Join other runners, walkers and volunteers the night before the big run at 4:30 p.m. for a Health Expo sponsored by Billings Clinic, followed by a delicious pasta dinner at 6:30 p.m. Please make your reservation for this wonderful evening before Wednesday, May 4, by registering online at www.womensrun.org.  The cost is $10.

The Women’s Run will host the Health Expo for the ninth year. The Expo is held before the Kick-Off Dinner and opens its doors at 4:30 p.m.  The Health Expo, presented by Billings Clinic, is free to everyone and will feature interactive exhibits and presentations where women can learn more about fitness, nutrition and better health. Proceeds from the Kick-Off Dinner benefit YWCA programs.

Tanya Goben Allestad will be the guest speaker at the Kick-Off Dinner on May 6.  Tanya will share her inspiring story of leading a life of resilience, happiness and hope.  Tanya, a Montana native, suffered a debilitating injury in 2007 that led to many surgeries and eventually to the decision to amputate her leg.  Tanya’s decision for this last surgery was driven by her desire to return to the activities she loves in Montana--to be able to hike, fish and even participate in the Montana Women’s Run.  Today, Tanya surrounds herself with positive people, spends time in the beautiful great outdoors, and sets her own goals for her physical activity.  Tanya has learned that success is not defined by how fast you run or how much you achieve, but success is measured by doing your own personal best each day to lead a fulfilling life. Sporting her new prosthetic leg, painted and personalized by her mother, she invites all women to join her at the Women’s Run.

Cape and Tiara Award Presentation
