4th Annual Pink Pookie Gala
Fundraiser to benefit Casting for Recovery, a no cost fly fishing retreat for Montana women breast cancer survivors
Billings, MT – Tickets are on sale for the 4th Annual Pink Pookie Gala to benefit the Montana Trailhead Country Program of Casting for Recovery (CfR). The social event will be held Fri. April 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the Radisson Inn (5500 Midland Rd. Billings, MT).
CfR began in Montana in 2008, and to date the program has had 13 retreats, serving 182 women. CfR is a national program that began in Vermont in 1996 that combines the sport of fly fishing with medical and emotional support for women breast cancer survivors. Fourteen Montana women are chosen at random to attend a retreat annually from those who apply. The retreat is provided at no cost to the participants. The program seeks to enhance the quality of life after breast cancer and 90% of women who attend a CFR retreat have never gone to a support group. The program is run by over 2,500 volunteers nationwide, with a small administrative staff in the national office in Vermont.
The Pink Pookie Gala is the Montana program’s largest fundraiser. Organizers have redesigned the event to include heavy hors d’oeuvres, a compelling and inspirational program featuring the testimony of a breast cancer survivor and Casting for Recovery participant, silent auction, and tailored live auction.
A Benefactor Level donation reserves a table of 10 for the event costing $1,000 and a Contributor Level sponsorship receives 10 tickets for $500. Individual tickets are $50.
