Billings Clinic Foundation launches new Piggy Bank Pediatric Patient Assistance Fund

Billings, MT – Billings Clinic Foundation launches a new Pediatric Patient Assistance Fund to help families struggling with costs associated with diagnosis of a life-altering illness or disease. The fund is called the Piggy Bank, and Billings Clinic Foundation is half-way to their goal of raising $100,000 by the end of March. The money raised will help families pay for expenses such as utility bills, rent, travel costs to Billings, and other needs. The fund is similar to Kelker’s Kids, which focuses on children diagnosed specifically with cancer.

“The Billings Clinic pediatricians and pediatric specialists take a team approach to providing excellent care for kids with complex medical and social needs,” said Dr. John Binder, Billings Clinic pediatric neurologist. “With the support of the community through the Piggy Bank fund, we will be able to care not just for kids but for entire families.”

Billings Clinic has the largest Pediatric Specialty Services Department in the region including pediatric cardiology, neurology, urology, pulmonology, endocrinology, and neonatology. Billings Clinic also recently celebrated the one year anniversary of opening the Bob and Penni Nance Pediatric Unit to provide specialized inpatient care to children in an environment designed especially for them. In February, Billings Clinic announced a formal partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado that provides the support needed to care for children with complex medical conditions right here in Montana.

One hundred percent of the funds raised for the Piggy Bank go directly to families of patients who live in Montana or northern Wyoming. The community is encouraged to fill the Piggy Bank by donating at a designated business location, becoming a crowd-funder on social media, or making a one-time online donation. For every gift of $50 or more, donors receive a Billings Clinic Kids piggy bank and are encouraged to post a photo with the bank on social media with the hashtag #pigdifference.
