What to Expect at Your Visit
At your appointment, you’ll meet with a doctor for a breast exam and a comprehensive breast cancer risk assessment. You’ll need to provide information about your health history and your family history of cancer.
You may also meet with a genetic counselor to discuss genetic testing. Testing can determine whether you carry genes related to breast cancer.
Personal Risk Care Plan
After your assessment, your doctor will share your risk of developing breast cancer.
You and your doctor will create a personal care plan to manage your risk, considering your specific risk factors.

Your care plan may include care and treatment choices to lower your risk of breast cancer, such as:
- Extra check-ups and breast screenings to find cancer early when it’s easiest to treat

- Surgery to remove your ovaries
