General Surgery

The team of General Surgeons at Billings Clinic are trained to diagnose, treat and manage patients with a broad spectrum of surgical conditions affecting almost any area of the body.

Your surgeon will establish your diagnosis and provide preoperative, operative, and postoperative care. For trauma victims and critically ill patients, a general surgeon is often responsible for the comprehensive management of their care.

Some of the most frequently performed surgical procedures include:

  • Abdominal
  • Appendectomy
  • Breast
  • Cancers
  • Colon
  • Esophageal disease anti-reflux surgery (Fundoplication (Nissen Procedure) for heartburn)
  • Gall bladder removal
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Hernia repair
  • Metabolic (weight loss) surgery
  • Parathyroid gland removal (parathyroidectomy)
  • Polyp Removal
  • Rectal
  • Spleen removal (splenectomy)
  • Thoracic
  • Thyroid gland removal (thyroidectomy)
  • Trauma

Many of these procedures may be performed using a laparoscope, which allows doctors to perform both minor and complex surgeries with a few small cuts in the abdomen.

Your primary care provider will refer you to one of our board-certified general surgeons. To learn more about our General Surgery physicians, view our online physician directory.
