Orthopedic Oncology
Orthopedic oncology is a specialty that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and removing tumors from the soft tissues and bones. This includes both benign (noncancerous) and malignant (cancerous) tumors that originate from soft tissue or bone. Malignant bone and soft tissue tumors, known as sarcomas, are very rare types of cancer, requiring specialized care with a multidisciplinary team. This includes Dr. Julia Quirion, fellowship-trained orthopedic oncologist, as well as our experts at the Billings Clinic Cancer Center.
The orthopedic oncology team also provides individualized care for patients with metastatic bone disease, working closely with medical oncology and radiation oncology specialists to improve pain control and function.
The orthopedic oncology team at the Billings Clinic sees patients of all ages (infants to adults).
Bone and soft tissue conditions we treat include:
- Bone sarcomas, such as osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, chondrosarcoma
- Soft tissue sarcoma, such as liposarcoma, synovial sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma
- Benign bone tumors, such as enchondroma, osteochondroma, bone cysts
