Pediatric Hospital Care
Children require specialized medical care, and their hospital care is no different.
If your child is hospitalized at Billings Clinic, he or she will be on a dedicated and secure pediatric unit, the Bob & Penni Nance Inpatient Pediatric Unit.
This unit has private rooms and dedicated pediatric hospitalists and nurses who have access to subspecialty consultations around the clock.
This unit was designed with feedback from existing patients and families in order to create a quiet, comfortable environment where families and children can be together. The pediatric medical team may consist of pediatric hospitalists and surgeons as well as our pediatric Magnet nurses who have specialized pediatric training to provide the best care for your child. This team provides family-centered care which means they partner with you, as an important member of the care team, to develop a plan that is uniquely tailored to your child's needs.

Inpatient Pediatric Unit Advancements
The Bob and Penni Nance Inpatient Pediatric Unit opened in 2016 and is state-of-the-art unit. The unit is located on the second floor of the east wing of Billings Clinic hospital above the cafeteria. This unit has nine private and spacious rooms with individual TVs, creative lightning that your child can customize as well as sleeper sofas for parent(s). The artwork, water features and sound give this space a sense of calm and healing.
In addition to creating a healing environment, the unit is equipped with security measures to protect young patients. There is also a separate procedure room that can be used to maintain the hospital room as a safe space for your child.
In 2019, we became the first inpatient pediatric unit in Billings to implement and offer the use of nitrous oxide. Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, may be used during minimally invasive procedures, such as IV placement. The use of laughing gas helps alleviate anxiety and creates a more positive experience for children. We also offer other distraction techniques to patients who cannot utilize nitrous oxide for procedures.
