Caring and Sharing

First Interstate Bank & Foundation

Homer Scott, First Interstate BankAt its heart, First Interstate Bank is a values-based family company committed to the communities it serves. Established by Homer Scott Sr., the bank traces its roots back to 1968 when Mr. Scott purchased the Bank of Commerce in Sheridan, Wyoming. Forty-six years later, First Interstate BancSystem has become a thriving financial holding company with its primary banking subsidiary, First Interstate Bank, growing to 79 branch locations spread throughout Montana, Wyoming and western South Dakota.

First Interstate Bank has long been committed to providing superior customer service, attracting high quality employees and serving its local communities.

Homer Scott Sr. stated it best, “if you are part of a community, take care of it.” This belief is shared across generations of the Scott family and felt throughout the communities First Interstate Bank serves.

For decades, First Interstate Bank has been a generous donor to Billings Clinic. Since the Classic’s inception in 1983, they have been a prominent supporter helping us achieve great things for many worthy causes such as Cardiac Care, Research, Emergency Services, Psychiatric Services, First Interstate Bank towerDiabetes, Cancer Research, Neurosciences and Critical Care.

First Interstate Bank, along with the bank’s charitable affiliate, First Interstate BancSystem Foundation, has also supported critically needed capital projects, including the campaign to build a new Cancer Center, helping Billings Clinic set a new standard in the care of patients with cancer. Their generous contribution to our most recent campaign focuses on building state-of-the-art facilities in key service areas such as Surgery, Cardiac Care, Pediatric Care and Critical Care and will impact patient care for generations to come.

Apart from their outstanding financial support, many members of the Scott family and employees from First Interstate Bank have volunteered on countless Billings Clinic committees and boards over the years. This dedication, to not only supporting Billings Clinic financially, but lending their talents, skills and energies to our organization, has taken Mr. Scott’s original vision to heart. We thank the Scott Family and First Interstate Bank for creating a legacy of caring and sharing that is felt here at home and throughout our region.
