Rotation Details

  • Availability: Subinternships are available from August through the end of February. For rotations outside this window, or for further inquiries, please contact us directly (see info below).
  • Rotation Focus: Students will spend time as a subintern on one of our three inpatient IMR teams.

Application Process

To apply for a two or four-week subinternship elective, please use the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) portal, managed by the AAMC. Follow these steps:

  1. Access the VSLO Portal: Visit AAMC VSLO to start your application.
  2. Search for Electives: Locate and apply for our subinternship by searching for "Billings Clinic" on the VSLO platform: VSLO Electives Search.

Application Requirements 

To complete your application, please submit the following documents:

  • Letter of Introduction: Describe your background, future practice plans, including your preferred practice location and specialty.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Medical School Transcripts: Unofficial copies are acceptable.
  • USMLE or COMLEX Transcript: Unofficial copies are acceptable.
  • One Letter of Recommendation, preferably from a Core Rotation
  • Preferred Dates: Indicate your desired rotation dates.

Application Timeline

Given the high volume of applications we receive, we recommend applying as soon as the portal opens. We typically begin reviewing applications and reaching out to candidates for scheduling in early February, about 1-2 weeks after the application period opens. Please be aware that if we receive more applications than we can process, we may close the application process early.
